I open GIMP, I go to File -> Create -> "XSane - device dialog."Ī small popup shows up saying "Scanning for devices", and a few seconds later

Actually I seem to remember that at some point I was able to scan something, but I'm not sure, and if I did, I can't anymore. However, I can't get the scanner to work.

On OpenSUSE, I managed to get the printer part to work (I don't remember how either, but NOTHING automated worked, I had to assign it a fixed IP and then somewhere I set up things manually and managed to have it work after a lot of trial and error - there's another bug report of mine about that). I don't remember how I did it, but it was easy. I have had it for a few years, and on Ubuntu it was easy to get it regognized by the system and use it, both as a printer and as a scanner. I have a network printer-scanner, a Canon Pixma MG3650, connected to the same wifi network as my computer.
